Flea market at Ostbahnhof

Untitled
If you know, you know.

Untitled
This one makes me smile every time I pass by.

Untitled
My camera was focusing a lot on the snow today.

Untitled
I was focusing on showing you bits and pieces from the flea market at Ostbahnhof.

Untitled
Due to the weather, there weren't many stands there. I can assure you that this flea market is well worth a visit, especially the other seasons.

Untitled
I love pelmeni (Russian dumplings) and have been meaning to try out this place for years, but keep forgetting. I have decided it HAS to be good.

Untitled
Traces of animal feet in snow - one of the most beautiful things I know.

By the way, there are lots of Wrist Worms on SALE in the shop - €10-15 discount per pair, welcome!

Enjoy the end of the weekend, people!

PS. I'm so overwhelmed with all your comments on my previous post. I told Johan Whenever you feel that you've lost faith in humanity, just go to my blog and read those comments. Thank you all so much! I will take time next week and respond to you all. xo

Yeke Yeke

Some pictures that ended up in my camera when I was shooting a job for Deliveroo in December. Those green sparkling curtains had me shape my mouth like an O.

I'm blogging so much more again (really? insert the emoji that laughs until the tears are running), Instagram is still my favourite app, but it's so hectic. The blog format is so much better for telling stories, I would say. Thanks to those of you who still hang around here, I would like to know what you like the most about this place? Maybe it can inspire me when it comes to future blog posts :) xo

By the way, anyone remember the big hit Yeke Yeke by Mory Kante in 1987? I had a love-hate relationship to it. Elektrokid did an AMAZING remix of it last year.

Today I took a picture once every hour

Untitled
Woke up before 7 this morning and thought I have no idea what this day will bring, so I decided to document it. This was taken at 8 when the sun was about to finally rise.

Untitled
9am: Went to Boxi for a round around the market.

Untitled
10am: Was in the mood for a longer walk, so I went to Frischeparadies to buy a cheese (provolone piccante) and then I did some other necessary shopping (canned tomatoes for the spicy lentils, coffee and bread).

Untitled
11am: Snow covered the streets for a little while.

Untitled
Noon: Went home freezing, made coffee and jumped in under my duvet to kiss Johan who just woke up. We looked up places we want to take his parents to when they come to visit next month.

Untitled
1pm: Time to start cooking.

Untitled
2pm: I never spent so much time on anything food wise, I am Madame Calmness these days. I completely changed after that fast, it might sound ridiculous but it's true. I've never felt this... happy before.

Untitled
3pm: Lunch was served, you find the recipe in the previous post.

Untitled
4pm: Decided to go out for another walk and see the sun go down.

Untitled
5pm: When I was back home Johan made me a drink; beetroot, ginger and apple. Was delicious.

Untitled
6pm: Monsieur Arbeit.

Untitled
7 pm: Frozen Lady took a bath. I don't know what's happening with me, I do everything in a much slower pace, yet I get a lot of stuff done. Guess it was about time.

Untitled
8pm: Went to sexy Aldi to buy some groceries.

Untitled
9pm: Made dinner, fried salmon with this sauce (made of soy, honey, garlic, ginger, oil and chili flakes) and Chinese cabbage. Was so delicious that I forgot to take a picture of it. Was pretty busy talking to Johan and our BFFs. We have a WhatsApp group called The Fashion Blog, you can't imagine the amazing pictures we send to each other ;)

Untitled
10pm: This still life in the hallway is just getting more and more crazy.

Untitled
A bit before 11pm: Putting together this blog post while listening to Robert Parker, he's so great, like an updated version of my all time favourite Bobby Orlando, the guy the Pet Shop Boys were recording with in the early years (which are crazy amazing by the way).

Recipe: Spicy Lentils

Untitled

Today I posted a picture on Instagram of a lentil soup/stew I made and many people asked for the recipe. The problem is that I don't cook from recipes, I look around at home to see what I have available and then I try to make the best out of it. I put stuff in the pot and then I taste what might be missing (We can call my method Pour, Stir, Taste ;). Will do my best to write a kind of recipe below :) It ended up being very spicy and very very delicious. I used so much curry paste that both Johan and I were sneezing and coughing like crazy, heh.

SPICY LENTILS for a lot of people
Red curry paste (I put a lot as I looove spicy, and you put as much as you prefer)
2-3 tbsp neutral oil
3 onions
Some garlic
Some ginger
6 dl red lentils
A few potatoes
2 carrots
800 grams of canned tomatoes (mix them if you don't want chunks)
1-2 tbsp tomato paste
A tbsp of brown sugar or honey
Vegetable stock for 1 liter
As much water as you want, depending on how thick you want the stew/soup, I used about 1 liter
Chili flakes (if you want it even spicier)
Fish sauce (skip it if you want it to be vegetarian/vegan) (I use it instead of salt)
400 ml coconut milk (if you don't like it, use cream or something similar, you can also skip it completely - tastes very good also without)

Coriander/Cilantro to sprinkle on top.
I ended up putting some soy in it as well. And I imagine some lemongrass would also suit very well.

DO LIKE THIS (or as you want)
Chop the onions, carrots, potatoes and ginger into pieces you like.
Heat up oil in a large pot and let the curry paste simmer for a while, to get out all the flavours.
After a few minutes, throw in the onions, garlic and ginger.
Stir and take good care of the paste.
Throw in the lentils, potatoes and carrots and stir for a minute or two.
Pour in the canned tomatoes, the tomato paste, the brown sugar (or honey) + the vegetable stock.
Let it boil for a while and when you think it's too thick, start pouring water. Stir. Pour water. Stir and so on until you have the thickness you like (takes maybe 15-20 minutes to know, as the lentils will swell).
Throw in some chili flakes (optional) and pour about 1-2 tbsp of fish sauce (better a little at first, you don't want the whole thing to end up tasting like fish sauce - Pour, stir, taste. Pour, stir, taste.) or salt/soy (vegetarian/vegan).
When the lentils and potatoes have a nice texture, pour in the coconut milk and stir.
Sprinkle coriander/cilantro on top.
